It is VERY good! I recommend it! The reason I’m mentioning it is because the author is going to release the next book in the series this Christmas!!! :-D

I don’t have guitar lessons, per se, but I do practice the guitar a lot by myself!
That’s the same for my brother.
I keep trying to get my brother to learn a bit of guitar, because we have a really good book on how to play the guitar out from the library, but he just can’t be bothered! Even though he has TONS of time that he could do it in!!
That’s funny! My brother is slightly obsessed with random hobbies, so he’s learning the guitar, ancient greek, rubix cubing and a bunch of other niche stuff!
That’s really cool! I think it’s great when you have a ton of different interests, because it means that it’s very hard for you to get bored! For example, I learn Spanish and French, sewing, writing, fashion drawings, play the guitar, and I read a lot! Because I have all those things to do, I’m literally never bored! :-D

I read, am learning shorthand, do french practice, play the cornet (basically a trumpet) and draw. Also probably other things, I just don’t remember at the moment!!! It is very useful having lots of different things to do, especially if they’re all reasonably productive so you feel like you’re doing something useful!

I agree! It also means that you have quite a lot of career options!
I totally think you should learn shorthand! It’s incredibly useful In real life – you can make notes quickly, write longer stories, show off… (Maybe that last reason wasn’t such a good one!!!)
I must warn you though, it’s quite a big commitment because it’s very tricky. You need to have a lot of time, but you make progress satisfyingly quickly! It will also look great on job applications and stuff, which is helpful.
Okay, I’ll see if I can find any courses online for learning shorthand! It sounds like it’s a really great skill to have! I think I’ll start after I get back from our next trip, as I don’t have a whole lot of time I can dedicate to it right now, but I’ll start in October! How much time a day do you think I should spend on it?

I’m glad, it really is a great skill and I really enjoy learning it! I spend about half an hour in the evening, 6 days a week so it’s not a massive commitment. It (obviously) will take a lot less time if you spend more time on it, but I honestly don’t want to, and don’t think it’s necessary to!

Yup. It’s funny being thirteen, I didn’t think it would be that different from being twelve, but it really is! A lot of my interests have changed, and I actually don’t have do much time to read anymore! :-(
