My tip for moving into Yr 6 would be to just enjoy it. It’ll be your last year in primary school and I wouldn’t want to waste my last year bothering about how I’m not that good at maths or that I don’t want to study algebra. A new school year is like a new canvas where you can create or do something great.

Hello Princess Morgana Rubber-duck, here is some advice for moving into Year 6. I have just left Year 6 so I have advice that should help right now.

Never ever wear non-school uniform unless it is a day when you should. Don’t wear things like jewellery and hair accessories that include a colour that is not in your uniform. Keep your bag’s main colour part of your uniform I found you can wear any sort because in high school you can only have certain colours. Do not wear a headscarf unless you are forced to, there are many challenges in wearing it to primary school. Always dress smart; don’t wear a polo shirt, wear a proper shirt instead. I think white is best so you can practice for high school. Always follow rules and don’t talk too much in class. Let the other students have a chance to put their hand up. Don’t go to the toilet during a lesson, always go at break time/ lunch. If you go to school with a parent/carer try to walk in front of them and find your way to school on your own. Don’t wear a face mask unless you are going on public transport. Keep practising for your SATS on the weekend and don’t waste time on weekends/holidays/lockdowns. Spend more time reading and studying. Try not to read books by Roald Dahl/ David Walliams/ Ross Welford because they won’t help with literature and vocabulary. Don’t take any toys in to calm yourself down on the first day. I know it is overwhelming but keep taking deep breaths and try to think of something nice. It will be very hard to leave Year 6; it is a sad day but try to enjoy it as much as you can! Hopefully this year you will have your SATS and end of year party!

Btw im just leaving year 6. It was really great for me even tho I didn’t get to do my play or go on a residential. It is really fun and don’t worry about anything. The teachers kinda like you more as they want to make your last year at primary school the best! Enjoy your time whilst it lasts!
