The diary of Eliza Helsted, Manchester, 1842-1843. Eliza Helsted is a bright working-class girl living in Manchester in the middle of the 19th century. Her father's a weaver at the local mill. Eliza is soon to learn that she'll have to go to work in the mill as an assistant.

My favourite person in this book was Eliza because she was resilient when she was working at the mill and she saw great suffering. I would recommend this book to children age 8 to 16 .
