Get Gobblefunking with Roald Dahl

This Dahl Day, James and the Giant Peach is leading the festivities and there is nothing James Henry Trotter loves more than an adventure. That’s why we’re inviting you on an adventure of your very own to explore the fantabulous language of Roald Dahl, the world’s no. 1 storyteller!

Roald Dahl was an adventurer of language and would often make up new words in his stories. We call this gobblefunk. Set off on a language adventure and have a go at inventing your own gobblefunk word, just like Roald Dahl. Enter and you could win a copy of the phizz-whizzing Oxford Roald Dahl Dictionary and a set of creative writing titles, including How to Write Your Best Story Ever!

How to Enter

Tell us your made up word, what it means, and draw us a picture to illustrate your word. Be as creative as you like – the more propsposterous the better!
