Frank Lampard

Into the Unknown

In the back garden, Frankie was teaching his dog new tricks with his magic football. Max could almost balance it on his snout. Frankie chipped it to him, but the ball bounced off Max’s head, straight towards the fishpond.
‘No!’ cried Frankie.
He waited for the splash, but it never came.
Peering into the pond, he gasped. The water had gone! In its place was a slide of swirling colour, spiralling downwards.
‘Shall we see what’s down there, Max?’ asked Frankie.
Max barked and wagged his tail.
‘I guess that’s a yes!’ said Frankie.
Together, they leapt into the unknown.

Frankie and Max swirled round and round through the rainbow coloured tunnel and it felt like going round in a washing machine but better!!

When they landed they both blinked and to their amazement they saw a world of football pitches all in different colours. They saw famous footballers such as David Beckham and Lionel Messi. They were all playing in perfect harmony without any referees.

Frankie gasped with excitement; he decided to join in one of the matches to get some practice for his own big game next week and Max joined in too.

He found he was able to do amazing skills without any effort and eventually he was as good as the superstars he was playing with.

It was a magical world where nobody needed a referee as it was impossible to foul!

Max began to bark loudly and Frankie saw that everything was turning black. He held on tight to his dog and said. “Max boy get us out of here”

Max followed his nose and soon could smell the unmistakeable smell of roast dinner. Through the darkness Frankie could hear his mother’s voice calling to him and could feel a licking on his face. When he opened his eyes he was laying on the grass with Max wagging his tail and his mum looking at him.

He was so excited he told his mum all about meeting Lionel Messi and David Beckham. Mum said, “Oh how lovely – come on it’s tea time”.

The next week Frankie was kicking off for his first football match and was very nervous. He wondered if he had dreamt the magical football place and his new skills but as soon as the whistle blew his feet became out of control and soon he so cried out as he scored a wonderful goal and everyone cheered.

Max barked loudly and Frankie lifted the cup. His team had won the tournament and he was the top scorer. Only Max knew his secret and he couldn’t tell anyone. Frankie was the happiest boy of all.
