I would suggest:
Malory Towers by Enid Blyton
Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
Rainbow Magic Books by Daisy Medows
If you are aged 7+, then anything by Enid Blyton is good. For animal stories for age 5-8, the Animal Ark series by Lucy Daniels, and for and 7-10, the Animal Rescue series by Tina Nolan. I would also like to recommend the Pony Detectives series by Belinda Rapley.
Harry potter
Why don’t you try Kensukes Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo , my class read it as a class book and I really enjoyed it , it also gives you some lessons about things and introduces new words .
