Lindy and her twin sister, Kris, find a dummy in the dumpster. Lindy calls him Slappy. Lindy starts practising her act for a party with the dummy. Kris gets jealous. Kris gets a dummy of her own. She calls it Mr. wood. Lindy is not happy. Her sister always copies her. The sisters hear a noise and see Slappy has been damaged. They think Mr. wood is alive. Mr. Wood starts speaking for himself. Kris thinks Lindy is making him say nasty things but she isn't. Lindy does her act for Mrs. Evans. Kris finds a piece of paper in Mr. Wood's pocket. She speaks the weird words and Slappy then comes alive as well.

Twins Lindy and Kris find a ventriloquist dummy in a bin. Lindy rescues it and names it Slappy. Kris wants her own dummy and calls it Mr. Wood. Strange things start to happen. One night the girls find Mr. Wood trying to strangle Slappy. The parents don't believe the girls. Kris finds a piece a paper in Mr. Woods pocket. She speaks the words on the paper and the dummy blinks his eyes. Mr. Wood gets smashed by a steam roller and a green gas emerges from him. When the girls go back inside Slappy turns around and laughs.

This book is amaze. It has two girls and they go in a new house that is being built and find a dummy called slappy. Kris gets jealous than asks her dad to get one. About 3 days later she gets a dummy called Mr Wood. She finds a yellow piece of paper in his pocket. It has words on she read them out and that is when the real mischief began!!!!
