In a faraway corner of a ruined world, a mysterious boy is building
a flying machine. Birds help him, and so does a beautiful, brilliant,
half-human engineer called Fever Crumb. But powerful enemies
stalk them – either to possess their revolutionary invention,
or to destroy the secrets of flight forever.

The breathtaking new story from the awesome world of MORTAL ENGINES. Award-winning writer Philip Reeve creates an extraordinary new city of moving buildings and human birds in a classic novel that is sure to thrill fans young and old.

I am really enjoying this series. This is the second book in the Fever Crumb series, prequel to the Mortal Engines Quartet. This book does contain a lot of bloodshed and violence so may not be the best read for younger children. It is a great read for people who like books on action, tension, mystery, drama and strong female main characters. Fever Crumb was once an engineer in the great city of london. After escaping it from previous dramas, taking 2 recently orphaned children with her, she joined a travelling theatre barge called the Lyceum. This book is set in a new idea of the future where all previous technology (that of the modern day) has been seemingly erased from history waiting to yet again be uncovered.
