A BBC radio full-cast dramatisation of the third book in JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. Brian Sibley’s famous 1981 adaptation, starring Ian Holm and Michael Hordern, has been divided into three corresponding parts, with newly-recorded beginning and end narration by Ian Holm (who plays Frodo in this and Bilbo in the feature films). The Return of the King will additionally include Stephen Oliver’s complete musical score, written for the series.

Completely gripped, Tolkien is a true scribe and his penmanship is evident in his writing, I have delved into the adventures of friendship, overcoming evil with perseverance of goodness! Loved the ending chapter, the ease of victory amongst all the loss and struggle, strength perseveres!

An amazing conclusion to the end of the lord of the rings series with the characters finding peace, Frodo and the other hobbits coming back to the Shire and meeting Sauraman and worm-tongue finally having his moment. Also that sad ending where Sam, Merry and Pippin watching the ring-bearers depart to the havens.

In this volume, I adored reading about Eowyn and the king Theoden, as well as Aragorn! When I got to the second part it was amazing reading about Frodo and Sam's journey to Mordor.

My favourite part is when they raise the Shire at the end. My favourite characters are still Merry, Aragorn, Sam, and Legolas. I also like Arwen.

In the third volume of The Lord of the Rings trilogy the good and evil forces join battle, and we see that the triumph of good is not absolute. The Third Age of Middle-earth ends, and the age of the dominion of Men begins.
