Knightley and Son
Rohan Gavin
Meet Knightley and Son – two great detectives for the price of one . . .
Darkus Knightley is not your average thirteen-year-old: ferociously logical, super-smart and with a fondness for tweed, detective work is in his blood. His dad Alan Knightley was London’s top private investigator and an expert in crimes too strange for Scotland Yard to handle, but four years ago the unexplained finally caught up with him – and he fell into a mysterious coma. Darkus is determined to follow in his father’s footsteps and find out what really happened. But when Alan suddenly wakes up, his memory is wonky and he needs help. The game is afoot for Knightley & Son – with a mystery that gets weirder by the minute, a bestselling book that makes its readers commit terrible crimes, and a sinister organisation known as the Combination . . .
A funny, warm, fantastical crime caper with an unlikely hero and a brilliant comic cast, perfect for fans of Sherlock and criminally good storytelling.
Reviews

Darkus Knightley is sharp/quick witted person. Following his father's footsteps he is a great junior detective. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thriller/action books.

A humorous book about crime-solving. A father and son detective agency go abroad to America to save their beloved colleague; but is it a trap set by their enemy, the combination? My favourite character is Darkus Knightley, because he is intelligent, fast and he corrects his father. Though the start of the book is very boring, so if you are a fast reader then you can whizz through it. I would recommend the book to someone who likes Sherlock Holmes and is 8+. It is unique and I've never seen anything like this before. In one word: Thrilling!

It was amazing. I could relate to a lot of happenings and the main character, Darkus Knightley. Enjoyed the whole of it except for the unresolved ending. Hope to read the complete series!

I like this book because it makes you think like a detective. But this book is not a mytholigical book.I could not believe Darkus crack cases better than his father.

Darkus Knightley, a 13 year old boy, with extraordinary brains needs to help his father (Alan Knightley , who is a detective )to deal with a criminal gang called ';Combination';. This gang publishes a book named ‘The Code’ which is a mysterious book with hidden powers that can drive people to commit criminal acts. The most exciting and crucial part of the story is when Darkus cracks Combination';s secret code and goes to his father’s rescue with Tilly, his stepsister. The plot of the story is excellent and the way characters were described, they all seemed to be real. The only letdown was that the story was a little short and it would have been better if the writer, Rohan Gavin, would have extended the storyline with a little more description. This is a detective story that any 10 to 12 year olds would love to read.

Knightley and Son is a different book. Once you begin reading it, you will feel that this will be a good read. The idea of the storyline is quite nice, but the story falls apart due to too much of description. Wherever something exciting is written about, the next part becomes boring. It also strikes me uncanny, that a father does not even respond to his son after waking up from a coma after 4 years. Is he that inclined to mystery? However, if you like to read suspense, and can hold your breath till the end, go for this book.
