The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark
Jill Tomlinson, Paul Howard
Plop is a baby owl. Perfect in every way - except for one. He's afraid of the dark. But he soon discovers, through a variety of new friends, that dark can be fun and exciting and magical.
Reviews

I liked the book because at the start of it the owl was afraid of the dark and throughout the book he got less nervous of it and at the very end he wasn’t afraid at all.

I thought this book was very interesting about the dark and has very amazing words. This is a fiction book about an owl who is afraid of the dark. I like Orion the black cat because she finally made Plop interested about the dark so he isn't afraid. I would recommend this book to Esther.

I liked it because Plop was supposed to like the dark but he didn't and that made him different to all the other baby barn owls. Everybody helped him to like the dark, they told him dark was kind and necessary and lots of other things. I also liked that a man showed Plop the stars through his telescope and said you cannot see the stars without darkness.

I read this story before at school but I saw this in a charity shop over the summer and decided that I wanted to buy it and read it again. I really like Plop as he is really funny. At one part he sees someone wearing black boots, a red coat and a possible white beard and he thinks it is Father Christmas. He thought this because he was told that Father Christmas only comes in the dark and this is why it is necessary we have the dark. I love Plop and would tell my friends to also read this book.

This is a fiction book. The book is about a little owl who learns how to not be afraid of the dark. He meets lots of people in the woods asking then how they manage at night time in the darkness. There is no magic answer about what to do. Over time he learns how to react and not be frightened in the dark. I liked the baby owl , as he appeared to be very cute and adorable. I enjoyed the book it was an easy read for me as a nine year old. I would recommend this to my friends.

I think this book is very good.My favourite character is plop the owl I would recommend this book to someone who likes owls I would also recommend this book to someone who is afraid of the dark. My favourite bit was when plop decides that he isn’t afraid of the dark anymore because lots of people and the cat told plop that dark is all different things like beautiful, wonderful, fascinating and necessary.
