I found this book good although I found it more difficult to understand. I think the story is serious and I enjoy a more happy sort of a story. There were lots of sad parts to the story.

I really liked it because there were parts that were happy and parts that were sadder and I like that it was in a diary instead of it just happening and I love the sketches.

I like this book because it is very adventurous, especially when the great-aunt went out to sea on a boat as a leader. My favourite character was Billy because he is courageous and went out with a stranger with no family. If you like adventure stories, I would recommend you this book

I loved this book because it is so engaging. Life on the Scilly Isles in 1907 is bleak and full of hardship. Laura's twin brother, Billy, disappears and then a storm devastates everything. It seems there is little hope…that is until the sailing ship the Zanzibar is wrecked on the island's rocks and everything changes…

My first impression of this book is that it would be quite dramatic but good because of the suspense in the blurb. However, I couldn't really follow along with the first part of the story because I was confused with what was actually happening and I didn't understand who the characters were. Overall, I wouldn't recommend reading this book.

In this book you are reading the diary of Laura Perryman. She lives on Bryher with her family looking after cows. Things are not good as the cows get sick and the weather destroys lots of the island homes and also her twin brother leaves. I like when she looks after the sea turtle and it’s exciting when the Zanzibar crashes on the rocks. I liked this story.
