The bestselling magical adventure, perfect for winter nights
…
Alone in the world, Sophie dreams of being someone special, but
she could never have imagined this …

On a school trip
to Russia, Sophie and her two friends find themselves on the
wrong train.

They are rescued by the beautiful Princess Anna Volkonskaya, who takes them to her winter palace and mesmerises them with stories of lost diamonds and a tragic past. But as night falls and wolves prowl, Sophie discovers more than dreams in the crumbling palace of secrets … An exciting, atmospheric, romantic fairy tale. With shades of Eva Ibbotson, Cornelia Funke and Dodie Smith’s I Capture the Castle.  Shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the Specsavers National Book Awards. Over 100,000 copies sold worldwide. ‘A classic winter’s tale.’ THE FINANCIAL TIMES  ‘… an engrossing, deeply atmospheric story.’ THE TELEGRAPH ‘A highlight of this year’s fiction.’ THE TIMES  ‘Fans of Eva Ibbotson will love this gripping tale.’ THE WEEK JUNIOR

My favorite character is Sophie. Even though Princess Anna Feodorva is unkind her personality is quite unique. I would recommend tis to girls of 8,9 and ten years old who like princesses

This book is a adventurous book and if you like to figure out mysteries then you will definitely like to read this book. I like it but you have to be a good reader because there are some tricky words ( some are Russian). It's like a hunt and a mission at the same time so you might be like ' what's going to happen, are they going to do it! ' Well you will find out if you read this amazing book.

Third time I've read it, still love this book! The setting is atmospheric, magical and absorbing, and it's an interesting plot, too- elements of mystery and deception threaded together in a snowy Russian forest.
