I think this book is much better than the first one because it had more action but there were too many long explanations that could've been skipped.

The adventure takes Will and Lyra to a new world in which they know no one and don't know any places either. They have to undergo an adventure in which they obtain an infinitely powerful weapon. But what will they use it for?

I think this book is exciting and sad. Some parts I did not understand but I still enjoyed it all. In this book my favorite character is Lee Scorseby because I liked how he wanted to protect Lyra and loved her as if he was her own daughter and I think it's sad how he died. I would recommend this to 9 and over.

Ooh, Will has been introduced and Lyra is finding him. They find the subtle knife.... I think it is a bad bad bad knife, but there we go! I loved the book and will re read it for years to come.

i thought the first book wasnt great although you definitely need to read it to understand this book. i thought the subtle knife added to the story line a lot and was extremely entertaining

Personally I don’t think this book was as good as the first one in this trilogy. I liked how the book introduced a new character, will which was then friends with the main character, Lyra on the last book. I also felt like I had more of a relation to him as he was more from our world. My favourite part of the book was when they were first together and they were exploring new places in the new world. Another one of my favourite parts is when they had to steal back the aletheometer as it bought in a lot of adventure to the story. To add on I really enjoyed some other characters popping up but some bad some good so you could try and figure out there workings and meanings as I love to do in books. Overall I think I liked the first book better but still liked this one a lot and I am excited to read the last one.

This was an excellent book and I really enjoyed it. It followed from the Northern lights and Lyra was the main character. Lyra had more adventures and a new character, Will, is introduced. He fought for the subtle knife, which can open doorways into different worlds. At the end there is another great cliffhanger! I would highly recommend this book.
Duchess Bernice Mystery 29.08.2020

My favourite character is Will as he is adventurous and he helps Lyra. I would recommend reading it before the next TV series and for children 9 and up.

Lee Scoresby was my favourite character. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

In this book I personally loved the characters: Iorek Brynisson, Serifina Pekala, Lee Scoresby, Will, Lyra. I especially liked Iorek though and how he fought the bear king to become king of the bears.

Very cool and sad at parts But a very good Sequel to the the northern lights Highly recommend

My favourite character once again was Lyra Belaqua now known as Lyra Silvertonge. This is the second part of 'The Northern Lights'. In this book, Lyra, meets a boy named Will Parry, they had to work together to find the people and secrets they need to save the world. This book was really interesting and it was left on a cliffhanger, I am currently reading the 3rd and last book. I would recommend this to some people who like mystery and surprise.
Dame Esmerelda Spaceship 06.07.2020

There is a lot of things i didn't expect to happen in this book, say fo example , Mrs Coutler to be in the other world, finding out the man who nearly tricked Lyra and Will into giving him him the knife was Lord Boreal! I found it very sad when Lee died, also when Mr Grumman got shot by the witch ,especially when Will found out Grumman was his father the second after Grumman died.I would definitely recommend as long as you are kind of used to sad books !
