This 3-book trilogy is ultimately the best series ever! I loved every bit of it, it was so intriguing. It contains The Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass, all novels from Philip Pullman, who I find is an amazing author. His Dark Materials is about a girl called Lyra, and her daemon, Pantalaimon who set out from their home in Jordan College, Oxford to discover about 'Dust', elementary particles that fall from the sky. She makes lots of friends, like Will Parry, and Iorek Byrnison, a bear. Along the way, she has to uncover her past and find out who her real parents are. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone 9+ and urge you to read it soon!

So this was immersive yet scary, a little grown up for me but still was hooked, I like Lyra’s character and the strength and resilience she embodies.

I really liked His dark materials because I found it really exiting to go into to different worlds and fell like i'm really there with Will and Lyra. This book was fiction and my favorite character was Lyra. I would 100% recommend this trilogy to anyone who likes the north and is interested in different worlds.

Ten stars out of five (if that were possible)! This trilogy: The Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass; is my altime favourite trilogy. It follows the adventures of Lyra Silvertounge, named 'Silvertounge' by the bear King, Iorek Byrnison, as the descovers the meaning of Dust, the elementary particles that flow between the parallel worlds and connect a person to their Dæmon (the human soul, in animal form, that can change shape during childhood, but will eventually settle into one form); meets William 'Will' Parry, who is search of his long-lost father, John Parry, who went missing during an expedition to the arctic. Lyra and Will meet scientist Mary Malone, who is working with 'Shadow Particles', another name for Dust. The story travels through many different worlds, including, but not limited to; Will's world (our own, Lyra's world (in which people have Dæmons), Lord Asriel's world, the world of the dead, and Cittàgazze (a world with soul-reaping spectres). Amazing trilogy, would 100% recommend to anyone (some people may find the deeper themes of the story (in which it is stated that the only 'Heaven' can be in your own world, and destroying of 'the Authority' the god of Lyra's world) offensive, however this is very deep down, and nothing is ever compared to any non-fictional religious beliefs.

This trilogy is brilliant. 'The Northern Lights', 'The Subtle Knife', and 'The Amber Spyglass' are unique entities of wonder; I've enjoyed Philip Pullman's work but this is just a whole new world - literally.
