I really enjoyed this book because it was about the difference between living in the Amazon Jungle and London. My favourite character was called Maia and even though she was forced to live with a cruel family, she made lots of new friends and had a thrilling adventure. I would recommend this to people who like adventure books.

This book is very funny and very serious in parts.I'd recommend it to people who like the Amazon,Friendship and fun.My favourite bit was when two girls lost their money in a fire.Later on when they were in hospital they were crying. The nurse thought they were upset because of their mum who was badly injured in the firebug they were crying about their money.

This is the best book I have ever read, literally. I love the adventures and the plots and ideas that Eva Ibbotson has chosen for this book. Everything fits in well with each other; nothing is just thrown in for the sake of it. Also, you will meet amazing friends on the way as friends are a really important part of this story. Not many people know how great this book is. I can't believe I didn't know about it before then. It is probably for a bit more advanced readers as it can sometimes be hard to understand the vocabulary and the language used to explain things. Personally, I think this is the best book in the whole entire world and universe. The descriptions are wonderful and I can really imagine the characters' feelings.

Great book! Full of adventure and friendship, and so much tension. I recommend it because it is original and full of cliff hangers.
