The chilling Saga of Darren Shan, the ordinary schoolboy plunged into the vampire world. Darren goes to a banned freak show with his best mate Steve. It’s the wonderfully gothic Cirque Du Freak where weird, frightening half human/half animals appear who interact terrifyingly with the audience. Darren – a spider freak – ‘falls in love’ with Madam Octa – an enormous tarantala owned by Mr Crepsley. Darren determines to steal the spider so that he can train it to perform amazing deeds. But his daring theft goes horribly wrong and Darren finds himself having to make a bargain with a creature of the night. Something out of the ordinary is set against the background of children’s normal lives to chilling effect. Atmospheric, funny, realistic, moving and… terrifying.

I loved the horror part but it also shows how important friends and family are to us. It was my FAVOURITE book I have ever read and i now have the whole collection. The author keeps you interested and he never stops with ideas. He puts lots of twists into the book and makes it even more interesting than it all ready is! my two favourite charactetrs are Darren Shan and Mr. Crepsly because eventhough they disagree it all ends out AMAZING.

I found it scary in some parts. When Darren got thrown out the window, and when the werewolf bit off the woman's hand Easy to understand.

It was really good but some parts were quite scary so if you dont like scary books you might want to be careful. There were also lots of plot twists which I liked.

This is a fictional book about a boy that turns into a vampire. I really enjoyed this book it was funny and thrilling. I would recommend this book.

It was very eventful. My favourite character was Larten Crepsely as his character fascinated me. I would recommend it to people interested in mythical creatures.

My thought about the book is amazing My favourite part is when Darren met Maddam octa . My favourite person would be Darren It interested me because when I look at the cover it Freeked me out but then i said to myself why don't I try the book.

I like it (close to the end) when i think it was darren was asked to be mr crepsly's assistant. He was explaining what darren would do and that he wouldnt be a full vampire - he would be a half vampire. Full vampires age 1 year every 10 years, as darren was a half vampire he would age once every 5 years as 5 is half of 10. Darren Shan is one of my favirite authors. Great book!!!

it was okay but it could be longer . i would recomend these books to any one who likes horror and gore . My favourite character was Madam Octa a Venomous spider though i really like Mr Crepsley too
