Piers Torday, Piers Torday
In a world where animals no longer exist, twelve-year-old Kester Jaynes sometimes feels like he hardly exists either. Locked away in a home for troubled children, when he meets a flock of talking pigeons and a bossy cockroach, Kester thinks he’s finally gone a bit mad. But the animals have something to say…
Reviews

This book is about a boy who lived in Spectrum Hall for six years because of a deadly virus called the red eye.The Facto, the people who keep the children, said that the food run out and the animals are deadly but what they say is totally not true…then Kester finds a friend who has a cat. They have to get to Kester’s dad to make a cure for the red eye But it will be a very dangerous mission. I really like this book because it shows that people that can’t do something that ordinary people can do do things that ordinary people cant do.

It was an amazing book I enjoyed it and I loved how many surprising turns there were in the book. I recommend it for 10 to 11 years old.

I liked this book because it was very adventurous. In this story, a boy called Kester had to save all the animals in the kingdom before they all died from a disease called Red Eye.

I really liked this book as I love animals and wish I could talk to animals. My mum got me this book as she heard about it and thought this book would be good for children of all ages that love animals as much as I do. But my favourite character is Polly. Because she had sass.

The Last Wild was an amazing book full of adventures and a great plot I really enjoyed it. What I liked best about this book was the animals. I would recommend this book to all animal lovers but also to adventure lovers. Piers Torday is an incredible author and I will definitely look forward to reading more of his books. I love Tordays way of writing and everyone should read this book and you should definitely read it .

This is not the kind of book I would look at and say 'hmm this looks interesting, I'm going to read it' but we had to read it in our literacy lesson and as I was reading this I started to see it getting interesting. So it's a story about a boy who gets put into this home because his father is a scientist and he can't talk, he lost his mum, but one day he sees animals all in his room and realises he can talk to them, but not physically he cant talk to them in his mind. These animals are ill, very ill, they have a disease which could kill them. They all try to look for Kester's father, the scientist hoping he could make a cure for the animal. In the end they find their dad but they find out they have another story in their life...

This book is amazing to me because I love animals and nature but I think you should read it because it is a great story about a boy who can't speak but he can talk to animals through his mind and saves the Last wild (that is how they call themselves.)
