Winner of the Gold Smarties Prize, the Blue Peter Book Award and shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal

Samuel Blink is the hero of this story, but he doesn’t know it yet.

Right now, he and his sister Martha are in the back of his parents’ car. He has no idea a giant log is about to fall from the sky and change his life forever. He doesn’t know that he and Martha will be forced to move to Norway and eat their Aunt Eda’s smelly brown cheese. He hasn’t the slightest clue Martha will disappear into the Shadow Forest – a forest full of one-eyed trolls, deadly Truth Pixies, a shadow-stealing witch and the evil Changemaker.

Samuel Blink doesn’t know any of this. So don’t tell him. It might ruin the book . . .

An eerie, funny and exciting fairytale from multi-award-winning author Matt Haig.

I think Shadow Forest is a very good book and my teacher in school read it to my class. It's fictional and my favourite characters are Martha and Aunt Eda. I would recommend it to everyone over 8 years old because it is funny and heartwarming at the same time.

This book is about when Samuel and Martha's parents die they go to live in Norway with their aunt Eda they are told to stay away from the forest but the children go in anyway. They are attacked by creatures that have had their shadows taken away by the evil changemaker to stop them from ever returning from the forest. My favourite character was the Tomtegub because he sounded funny looking and sang happy songs.I would definitely recommend this book to adventure lovers.

I absolutely loved Shadow Forest. It had so many twists and turns that I found it hard to stop reading! It is about two siblings named Samuel and Martha who's parents get squashed in by a falling log. They have to Norway to live with their aunt, Aunt Eda. Next to aunt Eda's house there is a dark forest. You know how kids are, they just had to go in...

This book was absolutely terrifying. I think one of my favourite bits was with the truth pixie and how the change maker changed everything. It was an absolutely terrifying read making it absolutely terrifying and being absolutely terrifying made it an absolutely terrifying book. I enjoyed the absolutely terrifying-ness because it was absolutely terrifying.
