From the multi award-winning and bestselling author, a beautifully re-packaged, 4u2read version, of this moving story of a girl and an injured fox cub. Clare has lived her whole life on a farm, but she’s never seen a fox – until she finds a tiny, injured cub who’s lost his mum. Clare cares for him herself, but has to keep him hidden from her father who thinks foxes are vermin – pests that should be shot. Can she keep the cub safe? Beautifully crafted story from the former Children’s Laureate and best-selling author.

The reason I gave it a 4* is because it got us attached to the fox but in the end they decided to kill the fox.

WARNING: This is a sad story. I didn’t like the ending one bit, but I did like the rest of the story about the fox. I think that it would not be a good read for anyone who doesn’t like sad endings.

I really enjoyed the book. I liked the book because Clare is a very nice person to help the fox cub. My favourite character was Clare. I would really recommend this book to others as it teaches lessons to younger children of how to look after animals.

In this book my favourite character was red the horse and the hounds because I love dogs and horses they are my favourite animals. Even though I disagree on fox hunting. I think that if she had left the fox where he was he would of had a better chance on surviving. But it was a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It was a real shame the fox dyed I wish it hadn't that was the only really really sad part.

It was a bit pointless when at the end the fox cub died anyway.

The ending is sad. The illustrations are very good. The dad is a horrible character.

I like this book because it shows how kind and unkind people can be. Also I like Michael Morpurgo. I liked the girl the best as she helped the fox. I would definitely recommend this book.

I loved this book by Michael Morpurgo and it was also a really sad story as the ending wasn't very happy. All the characters apart from Clare didn't really care about the foxes being killed which I thought wasn't very nice. I would recommend this book to people who like sad stories and to people who enjoy fables.

It's very detailed and descriptive. The chapters are short. The author tells you were he got the idea from for the story. I didn't like that it had a sad and abrupt ending.
