The gates to Frost Hollow Hall loomed before us. They were great tall things, the ironwork all twisted leaves and queer-looking flowers. And they were very definitely shut.

Tilly’s heart sinks. Will’s at the door of their cottage, daring her to come ice-skating up at Frost Hollow Hall. No one goes near the place these days. Rumour has it that the house is haunted . . . Ten years ago the young heir, Kit Barrington, drowned there in the lake. But Tilly never turns down a dare.
Then it goes horribly wrong. The ice breaks, Tilly falls through and almost drowns. At the point of death, a beautiful angel appears in the water and saves her. Kit Barrington’s ghost.
Kit needs Tilly to solve the mystery of his death, so that his spirit can rest in peace. In order to discover all she can, Tilly gets work as a maid at Frost Hollow Hall. But the place makes her flesh crawl. It’s all about the dead here, she’s told, and in the heart of the house she soon discovers all manner of dark secrets . . .

Frost Hollow Hall is a thrilling historical fiction debut. Told in Tilly’s unique voice, it is a tale of love and loss, and how forgiveness is the key to recovery.

This is an amazing book about a girl called Tilly Higgins ( aka Matilda ) who nearly drowns in a frozen lake ice skating and then has to go on a great adventure to help a trouble ghost's spirit be free. Frost Hollow Hall is a historical fiction book set in 1881. My favourite character is Tilly Higgins because she is an adventurous girl who is hard on the outside but really a kind hearted person on the inside. I would most definitely recommend this to someone else, and if they like this book please read the rest of Emma Carrol's books, they are all great. Emma has written loads of books!

I like this book, it was a fiction book. Tilly was my favourite character she was fun and fearless. I would recommend this book but it still isn’t as good as the sun king.

This was a very nice book, a good read for anyone who likes ghost stories set in the past. I really enjoyed it. My favourite character was Tilly Higgins because she was desperate to support her mother when her sister and father run away abroad.

This fictional book is told from a girls point of view, about a troubled ghost that haunts the lake at frost hollow hall. I would recommend this gripping story to 9-16 year olds.

I really enjoyed this book because it was a scary book involving ghosts... But then at the end you find out which dead people the ghosts really are. I liked the housekeeper Mrs. Jessop because she has lots of scary secrets about her past. I would recommend this book to boys and girls aged 10+.
