The Longest Whale Song
Jacqueline Wilson, Nick Sharratt
Ella’s mum’s in a deep coma having just had a new baby. That means Ella has to live with Jack, her hopeless stepfather and cope with her tiny newborn brother, as well as worrying about Mum. The only thing that’s going right is her school project. It’s all about whales and how they sing out to each other to attract a mate – sometimes for hours.

I like this book because it is about friendship and resilience. My favourite character was Ella because she is brave and doesn't moan a lot when she is sent to Aunt Liz's house but she can be difficult at times for instance when she is refusing to eat because she is annoyed at her stepdad, Jack.

I'm my opinion I would recommend to people who are young but old enough to understand more about family and what can go wrong and what can go right. Overall this shows an important lesson that family and education ate some of the most top things we need in our lives xx

Personally I think it’s a bit to sad. The person I liked the best was her pet Guinea pig ‘Butter Scotch’.I don’t really like the name though it sounds a bit sickly to me.Judging from the other books I’ve read I wouldn’t recommend it. Sorry for being a bit like ‘this book is bad’ but yeah so bye'!!!

I really enjoyed this book of love because it shows how family is most important. It also sends a message of how you should never give up hope and you should work with someone even if you don't like them. It feels like you can really see how much Ella has a passion for her Mum and her whales so I would recommend it to other people who want something new for a change. I think everyone should care for one another and if you think that as well then read this amazing book of joy and happiness which can attract you more than you will think!

its sad when the mum is in a coma.but it is good because the mum slowly gets better. I would recommend this to an 8 year old reader.
