OXFORD THE HIGHWAYMAN
Alfred Noyes's famous poem still has the power to thrill us as we read the story of the highwayman and his doomed love for Bess, the landlord's black-eyed daughter. Charles Keeping's stunning illustrations won this book the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1982.

I loved this Poem because I love poetry, and the best part of it was the rhymes like The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees. The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas. and the end has rhymes like Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair. We end with the image of Bess braiding her hair...

I loved it is all I can say about it!My favourite part is when they say ... The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor and the highway man came riding riding riding the highway man came riding up to the old inn door ! My favourite character is Bess the landlord’s daughter she’s so beautiful, brave and brilliant . She’s actually in love with the highway man ! I know it’s a bit strange but that’s that and I can’t change it but really in the end that’s how she dies sorry no more spoilers. There’s another bit I like it goes like this The wind was a torrent of darkness darkness among the gusty trees the moon was a ghostly galleon Tostito’s upon cloudy seas so good right best poem book ever

The Highwayman is a very interesting book by Alfred Noyes. The front cover shows and X-Ray of him and the horse which is really attractive. This is about a man who meets a pretty girl called Bess and he promises her that he will bring her some shining gold by moonlight. Tim the Ostler, who loved Bess before, became FURIOUS as he heard their conversation...if your so desperate to find out what happens next, I'm not going to tell you! Why don't you find out by reading this brilliant book!
