Floss’s parents split up when she was younger and she now divides up her week, spending five days with her mum, her mum’s new boyfriend and her new baby half-brother. The other two days Floss spends with her dad, helping him to run his greasy spoon cafe. But then their simple arrangement is thrown into disarray when Floss’s mum decides to move to Australia for six months. Floss has to choose whether to go with her or stay with her dad. She picks her dad and they muddle along happily together, surviving on chip butties and enjoying visits to the local funfair. But then disaster strikes, Dad’s money troubles catch up with him and they have to move out of the cafe. They’re homeless – but can their new fairground friends help out? This is another gripping and emotionally involving slice of family life from the award-winning, bestselling author, Jacqueline Wilson.

I really liked this book because it defined the lives of people working in cafes. It was really heartbreaking when Floss had to cope without her mother and when she and her dad thought they had to live in cardboard boxes because they lived in the cafe. But someone wanted to buy their cafe and build a Starbucks cafe out of it. My favourite character was Susan because she was really kind and intelligent. I would recommend this book to anyone who prefer stories about friendship, family, etc.

It's a good book but very long. I wouldn't like to have to live in 2 different places but I would like living in the fairground.

This book was all about a girl whose mum and step family moved to Australia. She didn't want to go because she didn't want to leave her Dad behind and she didn't like Steve her step-dad. I liked it because Floss and her dad decided to start travelling with the fair as they had no money to afford their house anymore. It was sad in places but had a happy ending.

I liked this book because it had a lot of drama and emotion. I thought Suzan was really kind and Rhainon was ok at the start but really mean at the end. My favourite character was Floss' dad because he seems really friendly

This about a girl called floss who's parents are separated. When her mum moves to Australia she stays behind with her dad when disaster strikes the cafe is permanently closed and they are left on the streets... It was an awesome, thrilling book to read. I would recommend this book to ages 8 and up

I think that this is a great book. This is because it was so sad and heartbreaking and it made me feel so sad but it was still very very good. There wee also a lot of twists and turns. this was a fiction book and my favourite character was probably the main character Floss. This is because she was so understanding and was always about the positive side. I would recommend this to anyone who likes sad stories
