This book’s all about him. And an angry fairy who lives in his bathtub. And Jake the dog, and a little girl called Polly and an evil, stinky butcher all covered in guts. And there’s heroes and sweets and adventures and EVERYTHING. Perfect for fans of Roald Dahl and David Walliams. Have you collected all the well brilliant Mr Gum series? The series has won numerous awards, including the inaugural Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Red House Children’s Book Award and two Blue Peter Book Awards.

This book is about a man who hates goodness. Can you believe it? He has a friend (obviously an evil one) and he works at the butchers. Mr. Gum has a garden, but not because it’s his hobby, because he has an angry fairy living in his bath and when his garden is untidy the fairy comes and whacks him with a frying pan. One day, a dog called Jake comes to Mr. Gum’s garden and absolutely DESTROYS it! The evil man doesn’t like being whacked with a frying pan by a fairy so one day, before the dog cam the man went to the butchers to get meat and then he poisoned it. Guess what happens next! Ah ah! I’m not telling you. Is anybody coming to the rescue? Read “You’re a bad man, Mr. Gum” to find out. I like this book. It’s funny and it’s very heroic.

This story was not very interesting. It was obvious to see what was coming in the story. There were no surprises or twists. My favourite character was Jake the dog because I love dogs. I would maybe recommend this book.
