Ballet Shoes for Anna (Essential Modern Classics)
Noel Streatfeild
Having lost their parents in an earthquake, Anna and her siblings live with their prim uncle and feeble aunt. Anna lives only to dance – but her uncle forbids her to have anything to do with ballet. How will she survive?
For Anna, everything takes second place to her burning desire to dance. Even the earthquake that destroyed her Turkish home has not made her think differently, only now she’s stuck in a prim suburban household with an uncle who ""doesn’t approve"" of dancing. What can Anna do? Not only is there no one to give her lessons, but there’s no money for them either, and, anyway, dancing’s forbidden. Will she ever become the ballerina she longs to be?Reviews

I absolutely love this book. It is about three brave children who's father is a artist. They live in a caravan and travel to many different places, but every Christmas and Summer they go to their mothers parents house. They call their grandparents Jardek and Babka. Jardek teaches Anna to dance, but when an earthquake happens and their whole family is killed they are sent to their Fathers brother who forbidds Anna to dance. My favourite character is the Aunt, because even thought she is afraid to go behind her husbands back she gives the children money to go places and dosent tell the Uncle that Anna is taking dancing classes. I would reccommend this book to anyone who loves dnacing, though youngerchildren may need some things explained to them. My favourite part is when Anna's brothers say they will make money and pay for her to dance, because they know how much she loves it.
