It’s Lord of the Flies for the Heroes generation The second instalment of Michael Grant’s epic Gone series. Suddenly it’s a world without adults and normal has crashed and burned. When life as you know it ends at 15, everything changes. The clock is ticking for Sam Temple and the kids of Perdido Beach but it’s not the big one-five that they face now; it’s starvation that threatens the FAYZ. In an abandoned mineshaft a faceless animal lurks, pulling the strings, toying with human and mutant alike. And he’s hungry – hungry in the darkness. An uneasy calm has settled over Perdido Beach. But soon, fear explodes into desperation as starvation sets in and the mob look to place blame. For the ‘normals’ the buck must stop somewhere: with the ‘freaks’. More and more kids are developing strange powers and, just as frighteningly, so are the animals in the FAYZ: talking coyotes, swimming bats and deadly worms with razor-sharp teeth are just the beginning. For Sam Temple the strain of leadership is beginning to show and he’s got more than just dwindling rations and in-fighting to worry about – Caine is back with the psychotic whiphand, Drake, by his side.
And in the background lies the greatest danger of all – and he too needs to be fed. HUNGER is yet another tour-de-force from global sensation, Michael Grant. If there’s one sci-fi/fantasy book for teens you read this year, make it Gone. ""I love this book"" – Stephen King

This is the second book in the Gone series, which is about a town where everyone over the age of 14 disappears. In the second book, the town is running out of food, and everyone is salvaging anything and everything. I'd suggest this book, 100%!!

This book was spell - bounding and gripping. It was like real - life but with a twist. My favourite character was Diana, because shes so different and has so many emotions even though she doesn`t show them often. I would definitely recommend this book but I would advice being in your double - digits, because their are parts of the book that don`t put great/nice images in your brain. Don`t put this as a reason not to read it though, because these parts are why it makes it so exciting!!!

The super Gone series carries on with the second instalment called 'Hunger'. After reading the first book, I wondered if Michael Grant could keep up the super writing throughout the series. But it seems he can. After surviving the 'poof' Sam faces the problem of feeding the hundreds of kids still living inside the FAYZ. However, he and many others have discover powers and how to use them. How will he cope in this new situation?

It's a gripping read, with the multiple points of view keep the plot interesting. It makes you feel sorry for the FAYZ kid's deaths and it consistently urges you to read more. In a nutshell, AMAZING.

It is an interesting book with an interesting plot, which is unlike other books. It is about a world where everyone over the age of 15 has disappeared and now everyone is beginning to get hungry. This is the second book in a series of 6.
