The first title in the number one bestselling CHERUB series! James hits rock bottom before he's offered a new start in an intriguing organisation ... A terrorist doesn't let strangers in her flat because they might be undercover police or intelligence agents, but her children bring their mates home and they run all over the place. The terrorist doesn't know that one of these kids has bugged every room in her house, made copies of all her computer files and stolen her address book. The kid works for CHERUB. CHERUB agents are aged between ten and seventeen. They live in the real world, slipping under adult radar and getting information that sends criminals and terrorists to jail. For official purposes, these children do not exist. Praise for the CHERUB series: 'Punchy, exciting, glamorous and, what's more, you'll completely wish it was true' - Sunday Express 'Crackling tension and high-octane drama' - Daily Mail 'A really good book that you could re-read over and over again' - Guardian 'Pacy writing, punchy dialogue and a gripping plot, it's got it all' - Daily Express 'Fast-moving action ... and cool gadgets!' - The Times Visit cherubcampus.com - the essential internet destination, packed with exclusive content and with in-depth biographies of CHERUB characters, out-takes and bonus stories.

I enjoyed the fact that children were the main characters and got to be spies! My favourite character was James because he was fat and slow but he became the best spy using his brain. I would recommend it to readers aged 12-14.

James's mum died and he gets recruited by CHERUB,a secret service camp for orphaned children. He then goes through basic training with Kerry Chang, which helps, as he doesn't know how to swim. He then goes on a mission with Amy at Fort Harmony and helps stop a terrorist group named Help Earth and for that he earns his navy shirt!!

It's a great book not for younger readers because it has got quite a few swear words . I thought it was awesomely exciting and I love spies.

I think it is a good introduction to a fascinating branch of British intelligence. I particularly enjoyed reading about the assault courses. In addition, it's also a good reminder that not all weapons used by terrorists are manmade (although this one was certainly encouraged by the terrorists). It also shows that not everything is black and white as to who is the good guy and who is the bad guy: you get patches of grey in the middle.

I loved this book so much! It is extremely funny and has a lot of action, it is a book that you wished that it was true. It is the sort of book that you could read over and over again without getting bored of it! I love Harry Potter, but now that I have read Cherub I love it even more than Harry Potter. It is a book you have to read!

I absolutely love cherub books. Every page is extremely gripping and everything about these books is so tense and amazing. James was my favourite character because he was really clever. I would without a doubt recommend this to anyone that wants a book that you can not put down until you finish reading every last word. This book however is not suitable for younger readers.

This book is amazing, so interesting, it had me hooked all the way through! Muchamore is such an amazing writer with really good ideas. The reason I gave it a 4 is it was a bit rude and swore a lot, and I would not recommend it to younger readers. However, that was the only problem and overall it was a fantastic read.

I really really liked this book as it had a lot of action as well as mystery and suspense. There was also a few unexpected plot twists as well ! It almost felt that the whole world was over when his mum died, sister (Lauren) taken away by evil step dad Ron and James (main character) was getting in trouble with the police! But then came Cherub !... My favorite part was when James had to do a survival course in Malaysia ! The mission he had was very intriguing as well ! I love the idea of kids going on missions instead of adults, especially as kids are said to be the most 'vulnerable' and 'weakest' and there they are fighting against the worlds top criminals !
