When Conrad is sent away to work during the summer he investigates some strange goings on. `He meets a boy named Christopher who is desperate to find a girl called Milly who has recently run away to a different dimension. He then reveals that he's an enchanter. A tale of magic, trickery, and wizardry.

My best character was Conrad. It was not factual. I thought it was rather good. I would recommend it to someone who loves magic.

Not the best of Diana Wynne Jones, but still a highly enjoyable book. I really loved Cat's hilarious responses to Series 7, compared to Series 12. Although, it is difficult to determine if he has more common sense than Conrad, as Cat knows even more about magic, prophesies and Conrad's bad karma than anybody else. I would recommend this book as an exciting book for children of any ages- if you've got nothing else to read.
