This book is a very thrilling novel although it is scary. A lot of it describes the fights between good and evil and other times are spent solving mysteries and puzzles. I recommend this book for people who like thrillers and adventure.

It’s the second book in the series and the villain is trying to bring back his gods, the Faceless Ones, and he’s already got a Grotesquery and Valkerie and Skulduggery have to try and stop it. It’s got just as much horror as the first book except more people are exploding. I loved it because I liked it when Valkerie was battling the Grotesquery by herself and it was unlikely she would defeat it because she was surprised she hurt it. I’m looking forward to see if they bring back the Faceless Ones.

I think this was a very good book. I liked the grotesquery and baron vengeance. The best part of the plot was when SP pretended he had a bomb in a bag (it was actually a wrench!).

The amount of action, injuries and lack of still standing sections of the book makes it very enjoyable to read and makes it exactly my cup of tea. It's a perfect mix of darkness, humour and quick pace that it keeps even older readers like me truly captivated. The best character in the book in my opinion is skulduggery himself, as there is still a lot of ambiguity surrounding him and he has a darker past than what it may seem. I am truly interested as to find out why he isn't so bitter about his past, and if he is, then why he's hiding it under a cover of nonchalance. I would very much recommend it to others no matter what age, as there is always something everyone can take away from any good book, and skulduggery pleasant is one of those.

I enjoyed "Playing With Fire" because it is a sequel to the first book, and continues Valkyrie and Skulduggery's adventure, introduces new heroes and villains, and more hilarious events. The storyline goes on, and it gets you involved in what is going on in this fictional worlds filled with sorcerers, witches, magic, etc.

I thought it was a really good book definitely needs a five star. If I could choose what type of magic I could do for the rest of my life it would be necromancy . My favourite character is skulduggery because he is funny and cool.

I would highly recommend this book, it is a really good mystery story. China Sorrows is my favourite character, as I like her symbol magic. I loved the twist in the tale at the end of the book!

Totally recommend this to people OVER 9. This book is packed full of tense,action,magic and long chapters. I loved this read and was unable to put it down until I HAD to [ I didn't want to] if you get a chance read this then I hope you enjoy it !

Skulduggery pleasant is a book about a skeleton detective called Skulduggery pleasant and a 13 year old girl called Valkyrie Cain. My favourite character is Skulduggery pleasant. I would recommend it to people who like humour and action.

I could not put down this book. Even when you thought someone was an ally they would suddenly turn and try to kill a friend. My favorite character was Valkyrie Cain due to how heroic she is fighting her own back with the limited magical power she has. I would definitely recommend this book.
