Norway, 793 AD. Fleece was snatched by Viking warriors when she was a young girl. Now she must work for a bullying farmer and his family, looking after their sheep. She longs to return to the country where she was born, but how will she ever make that journey back across the sea?

This story is about a girl who was being kidnapped by the Vikings and sent to Norway to become a slave, she met a stranger, and they came up with a plan to escape Norway and return to England, It was also a fictional story that the author came up. My favourite character was the fleece girl because of the fleece coat to keep her warm.

"Vikingerous" - Good books, more story form than Horrible Histories but just as good. I would recommend.

The book is about a girl who doesn’t know her name who is made a slave after she is caught by the Vikings. After growing up in Norway ,while she is looking after sheep, she meets an English man who is trying to find his lost daughter. The girl helps him escape and she goes with him. She then realised that she is his daughter and they live happily ever after.

Summary: Fleece is a young girl who was kidnapped from England and taken by Viking raiders to Norway to work as a slave. At the time, it was customary to have a special Viking funeral for their dead warriors to ensure they get to Viking heaven, Valhalla where their great god Odin lives. Each warrior has a maiden to carry his weapons and Fleece was the intended maiden to be buried at sea with Askold, the warrior chief. Fleece overhead the plan so she ran away from the village but she was recaptured. The plans for the burial at sea went ahead but when the villagers got to the sea shore they saw a one-eyed man who convinced them that he was Odin. (The Vikings believed that Odin sacrificed an eye so he could drink from the well of wisdom). The man said that he would take the warrior chief to Valhalla himself and he was taking Fleece as his servant. The Vikings obeyed and thought that it was a great day for the village because Odin had visited them. So, who was this one-eyed stranger?...
