Follow the wildly imaginative adventures of Esme as she leaves behind her circus home for the first time to spend the summer with her cousins Magnus, Cosmo and Gus at Maclinkey Castle where it’s easy to get lost and where you can discover all sorts of weird and wonderful animals in unlikely places – there are porcupines in beds, lizards in drawers and giraffes on the loo. It’s all a little wonderful and a lot overwhelming and when her pet donkey, Donk, turns up in a parcel sent from her parents, the fun really begins.
When hundreds of baby penguins hatch in Esme’s top floor bedroom, the children have to figure out how to get them outside. Esme and her cousin have the ingenious idea of building a helter skelter around the castle turret, but this is just the start – soon Maclinkey Castle is turned into a full-on Fairground Circus with a big wheel, Bumper Bears, and the show stopping Flying Tigers starring Esme herself!

Esme is a girl who lives in a circus she goes to visit her cousins who live in a castle and own a zoo. Chaos follows! Good book! Recommend it!

I loved this book and read it in one go. My favourite character is Esme because she loves sausage rolls and I love sausage rolls. She is amazing at gymnastics! Her donkey friend is a good gymnast as well and I liked how they worked as a team.I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This book was brilliant because they made a fun fair. I liked Esme the most because she was flying on the trapeze. I think everyone should read it. I'd like to read Book 2.

Esme is very bouncy and active. I loved the book because she, her pet Donk and her three cousins all build something really quite amazing! Malinkey castle (where Esme's cousins live) is full of animals!

There is a girl called Esme. There are three boys called Magnus, Cosmo and Gus. Esme goes to a castle and she has a sleepover for more than one night. At the end they have a circus and Esme and Donk (who is her pet which is half a horse and half a donkey) perform as "flying tigers" which there is a chapter all about them. The book is the first one which is called Amazing Esme. I liked the penguins and the helter skelter. I would recommend this book. I want to read the others in the series.
