Poppet is a little African elephant. When he is born, his mother warns him against mice because they run up elephants’ trunks. Poppet spends some time asking various creatures if they are mice and then, to his horror, one of them says ‘Yes’. However, Momo the mouse persuades Poppet that he’s been told an old wives’ tale and the two become friends. Poppet’s mother is horrified but is won over in the end by Momo’s eloquence.

I liked it because it was funny because his mum told poppet not to go near a mouse and he did. But he didn't get a mouse in his nose.

I thought it was really good because his mummy told him that mice run up elephants' trunks and he met a mouse and it didn't run up his nose like his mummy told him. Momo was my favourite character in this fiction book. Yes I would recommend it to someone else

The pictures of the characters were amazing. My favourite character is the mouse because he is very brave. I would recommend this book to other children.
