Join the fun on the farm!

A charming story from award-winning author Michael Morpurgo, hilariously illustrated throughout by Shoo Rayner, and perfect for readers of 5 and up. Two funny farmyard stories for younger readers. Mossop’s Last Chance:

“There’s mice in my barley sacks, there’s rats in my roof and now there’s mice in the corn bin. This time I’ve had enough. If you aren’t up to the job, you will have to go.”

Mossop the old farm cat likes to sleep – and not much else! So when Farmer Rafferty tells him to catch twenty-six mice by sunset, all the animals have to pull together to give Mossop one last chance… Albertine, Goose Queen:

“Good morning, Madam, I’ve come to eat you. Your friends have all gone. There’s no one to help you now. They’re all very stupid, aren’t they?”

A fox is on the loose, and all the animals except Albertine the goose have hidden themselves inside. Albertine is safe on her island in the pond – at least so she thinks, until the fox starts swimming towards her…

Main characters of Mossop's last chance: Mossop, Farmer Rafferty Setting: The farm Plot: Mossop was a sleepy, old, tired cat. Farmer Rafferty asked Mossop to catch 26 mice or leave the farm. Mossop couldn't fulfil the task at hand and was ready to leave. There was a twist in the tale and Mossop was saved by Albertine. My opinion: I liked this story because it had a mix of comics, chapters and pictures. Main characters of Albertine, Goose queen: Albertine, the hounds Setting: The farm Plot: Some huntsmen came to the farm searching for a fox. The fox cleverly sent all the animals away and crept up on Albertine to eat her. Albertine was brave and asked the fox not to hurt her gooselings. The fox agreed. The farm animals and the hunstmen came back. This time Albertine saved the fox.

Mossop is a old cat who isn't very good at catching mice and rats. The farmer threatend to get rid of him. The goose comes up with a plan to save Mossop. She gets all the mice and rats to play dead outside the farmers house. The farmer then keeps Mossop. When he isn't looking the mice and rats run away. I liked this story and would recommend it to others.

It was a really funny book, I liked the cat the best, because it just lies around and the friends help out. It has a happy ending.

This book was quite funny because there are lots of funny things that the animals do in this story. When Mossop is asleep on the tractor seat the animals creep up and watch farmer Rafferty sing which is very funny. I liked Frederick the cockerel best because every morning he does the cock-a-doodle do and farmer Rafferty wakes up. They never talk at breakfast and they only talk after breakfast. I would recommend this book.
