The Illustrated Mum
Jacqueline Wilson, Nick Sharratt
Dolphin adores her mother, Marigold. She's got wonderful clothes, bright hair and vivid tattoos all over her body - a colourful lady, to match her colourful life. But Dolphin's older sister, Star, is beginning to wonder if living with Marigold's fiery, unpredictable moods is the best thing for the girls.

I liked it was about a single mother with her two daughters, doing everything together and start taking care of her mother

This book was about a mum with lots of tattoos and then Star's dad comes back and Star goes away with him, then Dolphin finds her dad but doesn't go away with him because she wants to stay.

Very interesting book because there is a mum who is different from others and she really cares about her two daughters.

I think it was a very grown up and scary situation that Dolphin found herself in especially with Marigold coming back very late at night

My favourite character was Star (Dolphin's sister)
Queen Amazonia Pendragon 03.08.2023
I like Star because she looks after Marigold when she is unwell. I don’t like Star because she left Marigold and Dolphin.

I started this book a while back but got so caught up in other books i forgot all about it. But then i started the summer reading challenge and knew this book was one i had to read and complete over the course of the six weeks holidays. I was unsure about it but turns out i love it. 4/5 stars.

The reason why I have put 4 stars is because the mum swore once . overall the book was great. I would recommend this as 7+. Its also a really great book to me because it resembles real life .reality. Mum and dads breaking up sisters that sometimes fight sisters who most of the time love each other. I know I love my sister.

I found this book very realistic as people can relate to the story of Marigold and her two daughters, Star and Dolphin. I would recommend it to girls aged 9+ and if they like long non fiction books.

Interesting but not exactly my style

I loved this book so much because it highlighted the struggles that single mums have to support the family; what bipolar disorder really is. It helped me to understand and learn so much about it. I would recommend it to 11-14 year olds as I think they would really benefit from it. I just wish that they had added about Star facing sexism since it would have really helped some people.

Everything is possible in life and no matter what our parents are always our parents. Don't be afraid to ask for help and to speak up .
