Dr Carr’s mind is firmly made up. Katy and her little sister Clover are to spend a whole year away at boarding school. A strange place, far from home, but on arrival the girls have an inkling that it might turn out to be rather different from their expectations. One thing is for sure, it certainly isn’t going to be dull with a girl like Rose Red as an ally.

I liked the fun that the children had at their boarding school. I liked how Katy was kind to the sick teacher, even though she was a stern teacher, because she knew how it felt. I liked Rosie Red, which isn’t her real name, she’s really cheeky.

I liked the main character because I had read about her in What Katy Did.

It's a bit old and a bit weird. I would recommend it to someone who likes Malory Tower (Enid Blyton) and is over 7.

I really enjoyed the book. My favourite character was Elsie.

I think this book is marvellous - maybe even better than Susan Coolidge's first book: what katy did. My favourite character was Roselina Redding, otherwise known among her friends as Rose Red. Rose is a cheeky young girl of high nobility, playing pranks and flirting with boys. A funny story!
