The Red Pyramid (The Kane Chronicles Book 1)
Rick Riordan
Carter and Sadie have nothing in common but their parents: their father Dr. Julius Kane, a brilliant Egyptologist, and their mother, a famed archaeologist who died under mysterious circumstances when they were young. The siblings barely know each other, but one night, their father brings them together at the British Museum, promising a ‘research experiment’ that will set things right for their family. His plans go horribly wrong. An explosion unleashes an ancient evil – the Egyptian god Set who banishes Dr. Kane to oblivion and forces the children to flee for their lives. Now orphaned, Carter and Sadie must embark on a dangerous quest – from Cairo to Paris to the American Southwest, to save their father and stop Set from destroying everything they care about…
Reviews

Rick Riordan, another good novel. I originally adored the Percy Jackson series, and hoped this one would be as good. It wasn’t, for me, which was disappointing. I wasn’t a fan of the start, and the end didn’t really do it justice either. However, the middle of the story was incredible. Exactly what I was hoping for. 4 stars, it was good. I'd recommend this book to anyone who originally enjoyed the Percy Jackson series, and fancies a change- Egyptian Mythology is pretty awesome!

Probably the best book I’ve read so far! I want to give it even more stars! I’m sad to give it back to the Library. Great book for boys and girls.

It was a mixture of real life and facts and fantasy, because it has Egyptian Gods in, real people and things that happen today, and it also has facts about Egypt.

I thought this book was exciting and that Amos Kane was very secretive and mysterious. Also I think Rick Riordan is very funny

After reading the Percy Jackson books, I had to read The Kane Chronicles. These books are about Carter and Sadie Kane who are from an ancient magical family and are descendants of the Pharohs. I really enjoyed the mix of modern adventure and Egyptian mythology. I especially liked Kufu, Bas and Philip of Macedonia.
