He thinks it means he’s literally under a rain cloud and is worried about it happening to him too – so he hides in his shell. But his friend Minnie the elephant persuades him to go and cheer Joe up. Along the way they meet grumpy (but funny) Ella the parrot and Leo the silly hippo, who add to the confusion. It is only when they see Ava the giraffe and find Joe the bear in his lair that all becomes clear to Dudley. He feels very foolish, but his friends show him that it doesn’t matter – his heart was in the right place. Red bananas are chapter books for newly fluent readers, suitable for NC Level 3 readers. They are carefully designed illustrated books for both entertainment and education, supporting children’s understanding of how to read longer books. Red bananas introduce similes and wordplay to encourage an understanding of more literary concepts.

I loved it. At the end Joe looked very silly. My favourite person was Dudley. I would recommend it to someone else.

It was rally really really funny. My favourite character was mini the elephant . she was a girl . i really enjoyed it!!!

This book is very funny!It's all about a silly terrapin called Dudley who is informed that Joe the bear cub is under the weather!Silly Dudley thinks this means that Joe is under a grey cloud.He decides to go and visit Joe to cheer him up.Suddenly,the ground started to tremble.Dudley didn't get scared because he knew it was Minnie the elephant.Minnie insisted she was coming with him.of the 2 went,when suddenly,Dudley had an idea!he suggested that they should go to the umbrella tree and get an umbrella for Joe in case the cloud made rain.After they got the umbrella they saw grumpy Ella the parrot.He said they should get sunglasses from the sunglass tree for when when the weather gets better.Later,they saw Leo the hippo.he suggested they get some mittons from the mitten tree.Finaly they reach Joe's lair.But there was no cloud!They asked if the cloud had gone,but he said he was just ill they gave him his things and walked away,confused.
