I think this book is really good because the author takes to you encouraging you to read on by intriguing you. The children in this story are extremely unfortunate from the day their parents die in a house fire. My favourite character is Violet as she cares for her younger brother and sister. She has a passion for engineering which she uses to try and rescue her littlest sibling, sister Sunny.

I thought that their lives were terrible. I read about Sunny hanging on Count Olaf,s hands . I found this was Misery.

The first in a brilliant series of books, the bad beginning is a really awesome book! Violet, Klaus and Sunny receive the shocking and terrible news that their home has been destroyed, killing their parents. Sent to live with an evil guardian, the 3 children use their knowledge and skills as well as the information from a friendly neighbor's library, they must stop Count Olaf's nefarious plan. I would recommend this if you like mystery and excitment!

Violet, Klaus and Sunny were at the beach when they were told of their parents' death. They are taken in by Count Olaf who plans to steal their money and Violet, Klaus and Sunny need to work out what to do. The thing I liked best was whenever the children tried to talk to Mr Poe, the bank guy, the phone rang. But there was no happy start, no happy middle and no happy ending. My favourite character was Violet but I don't think I'd recommend this book.

A good adventure although it had a lot of sadness. The children were the main characters and proved that life goes on even though it can be filled with difficulties.

This book is fun but slightly creepy at the same time. It is about 3 orphans who are trying to escape Count Olaf's attempts to steal their fortune. I would recommend this book to children aged over 8 or are very confident readers.

The Bad Beginning is an adventure story going through the lives of three children, all with different hobbies and characteristics. After their parents die, they go to their "relative's" house where their adventure begins. My favourite of the three is Sunny, because she brings a bit of comedy to the book. I would definitely recommend it to people who like books like Sherlock Holmes, for the mystery side, and people who like adventure stories in general.
