But a dog would damage the expensive carpets in Hal’s glamorous home,
and his wealthy parents refuse to consider one. Then they discover
Easy Pets, a convenient dog-rental agency. Terrier Fleck arrives
on Hal’s birthday, but when Hal discovers that his dog must
be returned, he runs away. Hal and Fleck are joined by a group
of pedigree breeds joyfully escaping from Easy Pets – among them
is Otto, the wise and sombre St Bernard, and the fierce and excitable
Pekinese Li-Chee. A large reward is offered for the missing
boy, and soon Hal and his dogs are being chased across the country
by ruthless pursuers. Helped by a travelling circus, and the sympathetic
children from an orphanage, they race for their freedom
in a classic adventure in the tradition of 101 DALMATIANS. Every
dog-loving child will adore this irresistible story from a truly
great and much-loved children’s author.

I thought this book was brilliant as it is about a connection of a boy and a dog that will stop at anything to stay together and even take to running away from home for a long time as they want to be together so much and to add in another person runs away to help al the dogs run away but on the way they all find homes where they will be happy for all their lives and it actually works! There parents let them keep the dog and after all that his parents have changed for the better his mother not being selfish and his dad helping other people in a way that is life changing. I would absolutely recommend this book for anyone as it is so good but if they are reading it by yourself make sure you are okay with a little bit of violence as in one scene there is some. I liked Hal and Pippa the best as when they feel strongly about something they will not stop at anything untill they get it or it gets sorted out and also spending a week together has some strong friendships out of it as now Hal and Pippa are very good friends now.

This heart warming tale of a dog's loyalty to his boy is sure to thrill any reader. Hal and Pippa head to Northumberland to reach Hal's grandparents after Hal's parents trick him and rent Fleck for the weekend only. This tale of love, loyalty, friendship and care is a perfect tale for any dog lover or Eva Ibbotson fan.

When Hal gets a dog, he thinks it is his for life, but little does he know that Fleck is only his for three days. Hal embarks on an adventure of getting Fleck back and going to Northumberland to see his grandparents but Pippa, Kayley's 10 year old sister, frees the other dogs and comes with him. Pippa's parents thinks she's at school camp but Hal's family think he's been kidnapped. A reward of £20,000 is given to find Hal and Hal must escape from people finding him and Pippa by trusting new people. All of the dogs they take find a home on the way to Northumberland, and can Hal and Pippa get there without being caught? I love this book. It feels like I am experiencing this through Hal's eyes and anyone would enjoy this well written book.

It is not a very adventurous book, though it is more about kindness to your little chiddlers ( BFG word for children).
