I really enjoyed this book. Set in both modern day and 1942, Liz digs into her family history she finds an amazing story. I would really recommend it to people.

I really liked this book but it's also so sad. I nearly cried when Willem saw Hannie in the ditch. War is so unfair. I hated it when Hugo betrayed the resistance as well. This book has a split narritive between Liv, Willem/William and Mila/Mimi/Bubbe. I think my favourite character is either Hannie because she of her willingness to sacrifice her life for another and her bravery or Gabi because she was such a great and understanding friend to Liv. This book is about 2 Jewish sisters ( Hannie and Mila) trying to survive world war 2 and about modern-day Liv trying to dig up more about her grandmother's ( Mila)mysterious past. I would recommend this to fans of The boy in the striped pyjamas.
