From the bestselling author of When the Sky Falls comes the heart-rending story of evacuee Peggy, separated from her beloved dog Beau in the Second World War.

Peggy and her dog Beau are inseparable: the only thing that can ever come between them is war. Peggy is evacuated to the safety of the coast, but Beau is left behind in the city. He becomes the most extraordinary and unlikely of war heroes, searching the streets after the bombs fall for survivors. Then disaster strikes when Peggy’s parents are killed, leaving her and Beau alone, hundreds of miles apart. But Beau has a plan to reunite them…

I would recommend this book to any reader who likes war based books. This story is about a stray dog called Beau who is taken in by a kind girl called Peggy. They soon build a strong relationship. But suddenly, war breaks out and she is evacuated. Beau is sad but does his part in war. Though, suddenly something happens and he must go on a long journey to find his beloved Peggy. Who will help him? What will happen along the way?

One of the best books I have ever read. Funny, scary, and overall brilliant. My favorite character would have to be Mabel the cat for her attitude and leadership. Would say though maybe not for younger kids.

This reminded me of learning about world war 2 in class! It is a good way to teach children about our history.
