Lottie Brooks's Totally Disastrous School-Trip
Katie Kirby
Lottie Brooks continues to navigate the many perils of growing up in this fantastically funny illustrated series for a 9-12 audience, filled with friendship, embarrassing moments and plenty of lols.
Woe is me. So much is wrong in my life…
Still look like a tomato
Am stuck indoors whilst my friends go bowling without me (rude)
My parents are leaving me to go out on a ‘Date Night’. GROSS!
After a summer of meeting handsome French boys and getting a tiny bit sunburnt. OK, fine – a lot sunburnt, Lottie’s heading off on a week-long residential school trip. A whole week away from embarrassing parents and Toby’s tasty air biscuits!
But the trip soon turns into a total disaster. The other girls staying at the camp are MEGA-MEAN, best friend Jess is spending all her time with new girl Isha, and Lottie’s diary gets stolen!
Who knew a school trip could cause so much DRAMA?!
Readers LOVE Lottie Brooks:
My daughter couldn’t put it down and read it in 2 days. Read at breakfast, walking downstairs, tea time, in the bath.
My 9-year-old daughter devoured it in two nights, and all I could hear from her was giggling and the occasional ""Mum! Listen to this! This is SO me!"".
My 12 year old reluctant reader took this book, read 100 pages in one night and proclaimed it ‘the best book ever’
Katie has managed to capture the essence of what this group think and feel in a positive, life-affirming fashion.
Reviews

It is my favourite book ever because it's so funny! I really enjoyed this extraordinary book, one of the reasons why was the cover design was incredible but too much, hilarious writing and at the end I was crying with tears of laughter! Lets think about the things I disliked... None! That's how amazing it was! I would highly recommend this book to ALL of my friends!

I really recommend this book to people who are searching for a funny, entertaining read full of laughter and joy. Lottie is a great character who is always making me read more. She goes on a outdoor, forest school trip that doesn't exactly go as planned. Please read this AWESOME story!

This is the fourth book in the Lottie Brooks series where Lottie thinks she's going to be replaced by her BFF, Jess, who has been hanging out with Isha the new girl. When Lottie goes to Campy Firefly she ends up in a different cabin to Jess. She goes through dilemmas where she regains her friendship with Jess when she needs something and someone to help her. This book is real life since you could be going through it some day. I liked the way Amber stood up for her friends when some people where some people were messing about with Lottie and Jess. I recommend this book to people who love Katie Kirby and Lottie Brooks. I can't wait to read The Completely Chaotic Christmas of Lottie Brooks.

This book was a bit grown up for me, but I enjoyed learning about Lottie's life, her little brother called Toby, and her baby sister. The story is all about a school trip where she questions her friendship group and worries about her best friend leaving. There is another school on the trip, which is very different from hers; all girls and a private independent so they are a bit snotty, and the children do not get along. She has a boyfriend from France, but it turns out that he also has several other girlfriends which she later discovers. She is then faced with the choice of another boy who is in her class, called Daniel and she can't decide. It was a funny story, but a bit too grown up to recommend to my classmates.

Thank goodness most of this is fiction! Lottie is officially a teenager in year 8! Spending 5 days away from her family on a school camping trip at camp firefly, she needs to fight back to the vicious girls at willow park college, purposely ignore a selfish boy, win back Daniel, and SURVIVE!
