When Herbie and Violet’s arch-enemy Sebastian Eels turns up in Eerie-on-Sea, seemingly back from the dead, it can only spell bad news. The town may welcome his entrepreneurial scheme to resurrect Festergrimm’s Waxworks, a dusty and defunct old gallery of spooky characters from Eerie legend, but Herbie and Violet are suspicious of his motives. And when they learn the legend of Ludo Festergrimm the clockmaker, creator of a vast mechanical robot that wrought havoc in the wrong hands, they KNOW they’re on the right track. But how can they get the residents of Eerie-on-Sea to believe them?

I thought it was cool how someone made a huge robot.

If I had to describe this book series in one word, I would say mysterious. In this book, I really like the fact that Violet and Herbie know that Sebastian Eels is opening up the waxworks shop and are trying to figure out what he's doing. And I also appreciate how they have a few hints, clues and pointers from Mrs Fossil. That's what makes this book really work.

Festergrimm is all about a town called Eerie-on-sea where mysterious adventures peruse the inseparable duo, Herbert (Herbie) Lemon and Violet Parma. The story starts when Herbie is sent to meet a VIP guest set to arrive to the Grand Nautilous Hotel. The villainous Sebastian Eels returns to Eerie-on-sea (supposedly back from the dead) thrusting Herbie and Violet into a new adventure involving a missing girl, a creepy waxworks museum and a giant, dangerous clockwork robot. I was gripped to this book from the start. The descriptions were excellent and I was able to construct a fantastical image of the creation of Festergrimm’s monster in my head, especially the way the machine uses three bells to call out the name Pandora. I absolutely loved the names of the characters and thought they matched there personalities to a tee.

I loved this book soo much because it was full of adventures, problems and mysterys. My favourite character is Violet (Vi for short)because she is very animal friendly and my favourite part was when Herbert (Herbie for short) fixed the clockwork crab.

I loved Herbie Lemon in this book because he was rational and intelligent yet brave when it came to serious situations. I would recommend this book to someone if your into adventure and mystery and a little bit of gore!

When Herbie and Violet meet their arch enemy again, they realize something's up. Then, when there's a discussion of reopening the old eerie waxworks, it's up to them to do something, and they have to do it quick. Discovered in their tracks and forced to find a mysterious head, to finish a dangerous robot, they need to save the town, but is that all as easy as it seems? I had been waiting to read this book for AGES. Finally it came out and I swooped to read it... Amazing story, only a little too creepy for me. Still, one of my favourite books.
