The book was very heart-warming. This girl went to stay at her aunts and uncles and joined a strike for free school meals with her cousin. She met another cousin called huw Who had shell shock. She also found a soldier called Johnny who had forgotten every thing even who he was! They won the strike and huw had a friend in the war called Rhys who he thought had died but then had found Johnny who was Rhys. I would recommend to all historians.

So touching. It truly shows how horrible WW1 was and how sad and heart breaking war is.

I like Ry because even though he couldn't walk properly or remember stuff that didn't stop him from being kind and giving good advice.

1&2. I think this is an amazing book that gives the author a mix of happy and sad emotions. 3. My favourite character in the story was Natty because she is brave and fearless and goes through lots of hard things and always stays strong. She is also, always found helping the soilders in the village that had come back from war. She took a shine in caring for Johnny(one of the soilders) who had lost his memory and as their friendship grew he started to remember small things from before the war. 4. It was really interesting to find out what life was like from a child in that t8me period. 5. I would recommend it to people 8 and above who like the genre, science fiction.

I really enjoyed this book because it was really descriptive. I have read another book by Lesley Parr before and I also found that it was really descriptive mainly on the food which I loved. It was interesting and it took my imagination to another world. I could not put this book down and I finished this incredible book in five days which is one of the fastest books I have ever read. My favourite character was Natty because I loved how it was hard for her at times, and mainly at the start for moving schools and homes, but she still thought and cared about other people like Huw and Johnny. I really hope that Lesley Parr will bring out another book about wars and moving from special lifetime homes and I would 100 % recommend this book to others because it has great characters and different personalities.

I liked it because it was about history. It was based after the first war but it still didn’t go away.
