Maddy Yip's Guide to Life: A laugh-out-loud illustrated story!
Sue Cheung
A madcap new story from Sue Cheung, winner of the Diverse Book Award, filled with belly-laughs and packed with drawings! Perfect for fans of Tom Gates and Sam Wu.
Maddy Yip is perfectly happy in life, until she realises that everyone she knows has a talent – except for her! Maddy is determined to change that, with the help of her brothers, bewildered grandad and her best friend Dev. There are disastrous attempts at breakdancing and playing the recorder, revolting cakes, and a magic disappearing trick that ends up with an escaped guinea pig. Will Maddy ever find her true calling?
Reviews
Fun but slightly boring in parts. Good if you are "Not good at anything!".

I just finished Maddy Yip's Guide to Life, and WOW, it was so much fun! This book is perfect if you need a pick-me-up or just want to laugh. Maddy is such a relatable and super funny character, and her voice is totally unique. She’s got this mix of confidence, curiosity, and hilarious awkwardness that makes her feel like a real person—and I loved every page of it.

Maddy is one of the funniest characters ever. She thinks she’s good at everything (like drawing, karate, and baking), but things don’t always go to plan… which makes the book so funny! I loved how she always tries her best, even when things go totally wrong. The book is full of silly jokes, crazy adventures, and really cool drawings all over the pages. It felt like reading a comic and a story at the same time. I also liked her annoying little brother Oli and her best friend Dev — they got into lots of trouble together!

A book that says in life, things don't become how you want them to be, you should be happy with what you have. Read this book to find out more!

This book was very interesting as grandad (Agung) was the only one who was Chinese in the whole family. And one of the most funniest parts were when Ted and Tod (the evil twins) came the Maddys house, they always got Maddy in trouble by breaking something.

I loved the book but I don't get what the title has to do with it. I felt sorry for Maddy but relaxed as she became more used to her problem. I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they haven't got a particular talent or hobby.
