I thought this book was amazing. It was eerie and mysterious and I was hooked in straight away. My favourite character was Grammy because she wouldn't give in or let herself be pushed around and she wasn't afraid. I thought this book was really inspiring and beautifully written.

I knew this was going to be brilliant because I have read Lucy Strange’s books before and they leave me thinking I’m not alone in my room! Although they can be a little gory, they are also very mysterious and catching to the reader, a sense of foreboding overwhelms you. 5 stars and for 11+

Yes, I would recommend it to somebody! It’s a really good fictional book with lots of good scenes. I even ended up getting so drawn into the book I felt like I was the main character! It’s nice moving into a new world. I even cried when a character called ‘ Dadder ‘ ( the dad ) was dying from a marsh bite. Also when a horse called ‘ Jet ‘ was trying their best to walk.

It was in first person which makes it more interesting to read because you can tell it's just about that person and how they feel rather than everybody feeling this, everybody feeling that and you can concentrate on you as that character - there's an intensity to the narration and it makes it feel like you're being that pwerson. The plot was exciting and a bit sad. There's an unexpected bit in it - no spoilers! I would recommend this book.
