Written with great empathy and Rauf’s trademark humour, The Great (Food) Bank Heist is a moving story that gives a child’s-eye view of the increasing problem of food poverty. On Thursdays, Nelson, Ashley and Mum head out to the bank. But not just any old bank – the food bank. With its shining tins and packets of food stacked from floor to ceiling, Nelson thinks it’s the best kind of bank there is. But there’s a thief in town, and the shelves of the food bank are getting emptier each day, leaving people hungrier than ever. For the sake of his family and everyone else’s, Nelson needs to make them stop. But can he and his friends really be the ones to catch the bank robber?

I'd recommend this book to somebody else because it makes you think about what it would be like to not have enough food or money to live and how important it is to help people in need. It was cool that the kids were so determined to stop the thieves that they escaped from home to go to the supermarket to find the thieves. They found them and stood in front of their car until they got out and gave the food back. My favourite character was nelson.

It was absolutely amazing, the end bit was funny but it's also really sad that some people don't have enough food.

I found this book very very enjoyable as it describes the characters in an emotional way as they are a poor family and need to go to the food bank. The ending is funny and happy because when they do a food fight with the people who are stealing the food they win. This is why I rated the book 5/5

I like this author and have read most of her books but I think this one was for younger readers.

I read this one in one day. It’s quite a short and easy read. The story is about Chris, Harriet and Nelson and how they save the food bank from being robbed. I think this book is definitely worth reading. I like how this author makes you think.

Written for such a great cause & written well, though shorter & more basic than the Boy at the Back of the Class. As a teacher reading it out to my class though, I’m not sure I’d be comfortable about making it clear why children went to Breakfast Club - I’d be concerned for their privacy.

I liked it because it had a boy called Nelson who came from a very poor family. They went to the food bank every Thursday . Then one day they didn't have enough so Nelson and his friends went to Gladstores on saturday and they saw a man and a women swap a nearly empty trolley for the food bank donation trolley.
