I would recommend it to someone who is intrested about how it feels to be evacuated from a war. How it feels to be away from your home and in a distant place and the book had a nice twist to it when Mr Thomas' brother were the skulls sitting in the valley. I really liked this book and my favourite character is Jimmy because he has an interesting personality and it was nice to see him and his little brother change.

This book was fabulous because there were plenty of secrets revealed, and lots of cliffhangers. I liked a lot of the characters but my favourite was probably Florence because she was clever and humorous. I would recommend it to any 8-12 year olds that like adventures and secrets.

It is a great book. It is set in WW11 and is about a boy who is evacuated and finds a skull in a tree and sets off on an adventure to find out the truth about the village he lives in. My favourite character is Florence because she shows girls can do things just as well as boys. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a book you can’t stop reading.

I loved this book. It was both funny and sad. It’s 1939 and a boy called Jimmy and his little brother Ronnie are evacuated to Wales, where they’re taken in by the Thomas’. While Jimmy misses everyone, Ronnie quickly settles in. One day, Jimmy goes walking in the valley. He spots a tree and when he looks inside, he finds human bones! Whose are they? This story is a fictional book about evacuees in world war two. It's really interesting and you can't put the book down. It is a murderer mystery type book and I would recommend it to girls and boys of the age 11-13. My favourite character is a strong, fiery girl called Florence Campbell who help two brothers on a mission. I gave it 4 stars because it is amazing but the ending isn't as good as I would of hoped
