Girl (In Real Life)
Tamsin Winter
What’s it like to grow up online and have every tantrum, every spot – even your first period – broadcast to hundreds of thousands of followers? A funny and heartfelt novel for fans of Geek Girl, from the award-winning Tamsin Winter: ""Fast becoming a favourite for younger teenagers."" The Observer
Most parents try to limit their kids’ online exposure. But not Eva’s. Her parents run a hugely successful YouTube channel, and Eva is the star of the show. But Eva is getting sick of being made to pose in stupid mum-and-daughter matching outfits for sponsored posts. The freebies aren’t worth the teasing at school. And when an intensely humiliating ""period party"" post goes viral, Eva is outraged. She’s going to find a way to stop the channel, even if she has to sabotage it herself.
Reviews

I Loved this book! It showed how important it was to stay safe on the internet . My favorite character was Carys, she was very brave to owning up to the police and she was a great friend to Eva.

I think this is an amazing book. It does not just tell the story; the author writes ir in a way that makes you feel the story makes it seem real. It is wrote about something that could actually be true and it makes you stop and think. This book is brilliant and I recommend it for teenagers especially girla between the age of 10 and 14.

I think it showed a very realistic insight into the lifes of influencers and showed the hidden truths behind many of these "perfect " families that so many of us find ourselves comparing againest these days.

i thought this book really showed what some kids feel like when their parents show them off on the internet for views, fame and money. It shows the reality that the parents should wait till the child wants to be on their channel or account.

I like when Eva and Carys do some hacking to stop the channel reaching half a million subscribers.

A great book to read! I really recommend this book. It is really exciting and I learnt that not all people have their own privacy and dont feel free because everything about their whole life is online!

I really liked how it works out in the end and there is a twist with Carys and the hacking. I picked up in this book that the story kind of keeps on repeating itself. Beside that I rate it four stars.

It was okay at the start but it started to get a bit boring for me to read and I thought that the plot of the book kept changing too frequently so it made me loose interest in the book overall an okay book.

I loved this book! I liked how the whole story was based around a girl who just wanted a normal life where everything about herself wasn't online. I loved Eva- she was so relatable!
Queen Honeycomb Pinkerton 16.04.2023

I thought it was really good because she stood up to her parents and told them what she though.

I really like this book because it shows that screen time isn’t your whole life and that it can damage family’s so we have to be careful. If I had to choose a favourite character it would either be Farmor or Eva because Farmor is really nice, kind and cares about others but I equally like Eva because although at the start she isn’t able to get her parents to stop doing the channel she keeps on trying and doesn’t give up!! This is such a good book!!! Really recommend!!!

I enjoyed this well. It explained to me well how life isn't just about the internet. The book was fiction my favorite character was Eva the main character. I would recommend this to older girl s 9 - 15. It's not really appropriate for boys or anyone younger than 9 (depending on the person). For those over 15 I don't think they will be interested but it doesn't mean they can't read it.
